To focus on the cross means I have less time to focus on my own righteousness, which of course is not righteousness. For much of my life I failed to understand what it meant to "always live in the shadow of the cross". I too thought the cross to be merely the starting point. Someone wrote me recently and said, "I have also been challenged recently that the answer to most, if not all, of our problems is that we need to love Jesus more." Yes, I need to love Jesus more, but that is not the source problem. My source problem is that I spend so little time learning and meditating on how much Jesus loves me. Not because I am valuable, but because He took counsel with Himself before the foundation of the world and chose too. Flat and simple... but incredibly profound. When I come to the cross and rehearse that and contemplate the deepest recesses of all that means, then I will start to love God as I ought. "We [only] love Him because He first loved us." Dan, thanks for spinning us around and sending us back to the cross... again.

agreed about the thankful spinning... we sure do miss you down here.

"but that He loved us [me]" - just beautiful.

Hey. I have that picture too. I downloaded it from a royalty free site. I used it at "http://www.blueridgepca.org/Images/cross2.jpg" target="_blank">the end of a slide show presentation

for a couple guys from church who went to India.

Are you going to BCP in Feb? Jon Mulkey and I have finally decided on going. We found great prices on tickets at just the right time.

Blessings!
